Maths Curriculum
Mathematics or number work begins with children using their senses to learn that objects exist independently of themselves. It then goes on to include matching, sorting colours, shapes and sizes and beginning to understand the concept of number. Later children begin to recognise numbers, count, add and take away. Older students learn how to use these skills in everyday situations, such as catching the right number bus, checking change at the supermarket and reading the clock.
